Design and Manufacture of Horizontal Paddle Wheel Flocculator Components

Improved Service Life and Ontime Delivery

Flocculator Tank

El Paso Water needed to replace eight tanks of horizontal paddle wheel flocculator components, but the plant leadership wanted to optimize the existing design and needed updated drawings after previous refurbishment projects. The components have a 12-15 year service life and were at the end of their service life.

The Roger Brown Co can reverse engineer obstinate parts and recommend improvements that can extend the life of your plant and reduce maintenance costs. On this project for El Paso Water, we were not only able to replace, but also upgrade the materials. The upgraded stainless steel components should extend the service life of the flocculators another 10 years.

As a power transmission equipment distributor with a team of engineers, we are able to not only design a system, but have those components made. Our manufacturers are the best in the industry and source their materials from US suppliers. We are able to select the best product for the application and the manufacture who can meet delivery schedules at the required quality levels.

Our engineers came on the project site to take measurements and collect samples. Our engineers used the samples to identify the materials and make recommendations on how improve the service life of the flocculator. After reverse engineering the parts, we created drawings and a bill of materials (BOM) for each component and the total system.

Meeting deadlines that are dependent on snow melt and the increase water volume to the Rio Grande River, is challenging under any conditions. COVID increased the difficulty to meet project deadlines by straining material availability and production schedules. We were able to deliver all of the components on-time for the prime contractor to install.
